ABOUT

The story of Chipz is a truly remarkable tale. Not just another young rapper, Chipz is the new millennium's “Son of Hip-Hop“. Born Shakir Seagers, this Bronx native is known for flawlessly winning at showcases and numerous street battles, figuratively assassinating anyone who steps to the plate. Sharper and faster than rappers from both the old and new school. Though he's young, Chipz is a veteran in the rap/street game. After losing his mother at the tender age of 5, then his Grandfather shortly after, the young rapper chose music as an outlet for all his pain and struggling. “I remember writing my first rap on the Train with my big brother Cashes; showing me the ropes, Certifying my Swag” Jokes Chipz. Soon family and friends were encouraging Chipz to pursue rap fulltime, “I was beginning to see an end to what seemed like an inevitable struggle“ Recalls Chipz, only to be informed his best friend had been killed at age 15. With what seemed like a strain of bad luck, Chipz lost faith and ran to the streets, in turn came run-ins with the law. “I realized early on I wasn’t going to be a Career Criminal” States Chipz. “I took to my pen full-fledged without looking back.“ Using his trials and tribulations as poetic therapy, Chipz real life experiences have and continue to inspire the rhymes he writes today.

“Rapping isn’t just a hobby, its my wife, my job, my LIFE!” Even after sparking the interest of Violator and other Major labels, Chipz was flabbergasted to hear his mixtape bumping from a passing car on a trip to Miami in 2006.
